As of August, 2023, our policy on outside prescriptions has changed for the health and safety of our patients and the sustainability of our clinic. Dermatology Pet Care will no longer deal directly with outside pharmacies (Costco, CVS, 1800 Pet Meds, Chewy, etc). The process for filling veterinary medications with outside pharmacies is not streamlined as it is for human medicine resulting in long wait times to speak with pharmacists who often have little to no veterinary training, which leads to frequent mistakes being made. As a small veterinary clinic, we do not have the staff to spend the time necessary to ensure these prescriptions are filled correctly by outside pharmacies, nor do we ultimately have control of what is dispensed to our patients. Instead, we offer two convenient methods to fill your pet’s prescription needs.
OUR IN-CLINIC PHARMACY
Request your prescription through phone or email and pick it up at your convenience during our business hours OR we can ship directly to you. By choosing this option you can rest assured that you are purchasing a legitimate drug that has been manufactured and properly stored with veterinary and legal drug oversight in our clinic. You support our small veterinary specialty practice, and your prescription is handled, which allows us to expand services to our clients and patients.
OUR ONLINE PHARMACY
Request your prescription online at your convenience and receive your medications shipped to your home, directly from our pharmaceutical distributor, often with free shipping and at competitive prices. Our trained veterinary staff will contact you with any questions or concerns and continue to oversee your pet’s medical therapy. Plus, you continue to support our small veterinary specialty clinic, which benefits our staff, our community, and indirectly your pet.
WRITTEN PRESCRIPTIONS
We understand that cost can be a concern and that your pet may be in need of chronic treatment and this may be a financial burden. We also value your time and understand that ease and convenience are important as well. We will happily provide you with a written prescription, in person or mailed to you, so that you can make your choices on how to best refill your pet’s medications.
